You can love the writing, the fluid style in which they converse, but you don’t have to love the writer. You do have to realize, though, that the writing you so enjoy is intimately linked to the writer, to their life, to what happened to them—all those experiences, all their prejudices and…

I don’t think people realize how difficult it is to try to succeed in school while having eating disorders, or depression, or self harm issues, or any other mental/emotional illness. Having one or more of these illnesses sucks our ambition and drive away, making us only want to wallow away in self pity and hate. It’s too hard to find a balance…cut us some slack..

Reblog this if it applies to you.

I am an introvert. That means that when I’m feeling down, chances are that I won’t actually go to you for help. In fact, I won’t go to anyone for help. You’ll have to actually check on me. I don’t feel that I should burden others with my problems but if you come to me, I might just trust you enough to let you help.

Interviewer: Give us your best tip for overcoming depression.
Stephen Fry: To regard it as being like the weather. It's not your responsibility that it's raining, but it is real when it rains, and the fact that it's raining does not mean that the rain is never going to stop. The only thing to do is to believe that, one day, it won't be raining and accept it so you can find a mental umbrella to shield yourself from the worst. The sun will eventually come up.
